How to Slay on Valentine’s Day – Last Minute Outfit Ideas

It’s Valentines Day! The day we universally celebrate love in all its beautiful forms. If you’re anything like me, then you probably have no set plans. I prefer to go with the flow and see where the day takes me, usually confirming plans at the last minute. Whether those plans include date night with bae or girls night out, finding an outfit at the last minute can be stressful. No worries though, I got you covered! Here are three tips for last minute outfit ideas to help you slay this Valentine’s Day!

1.) Keep it Simple – Go for ‘one piece’ outfits

My first tip is to keep it simple. With limited time to plan an outfit, your best option is to choose a ‘one piece’ clothing item. This could include play suits, jumpsuits or dresses. Personally, when in doubt, I always reach for a play suit. This simple red play suit is ideal for any occasion as it super transitional and versatile, perfect for either a day or a night out.  A great staple piece for any wardrobe. This concept of simplicity should also extend to the colour of your outfit. Go for one colour rather than a print or pattern. You can’t ever really go wrong with black, white or red. This makes the accessorising process way easier and you can spend more of your limited time doing your hair, makeup or if you’re like me, prepping a last minute snack.

2.) Make a Statement…with your accessories!

Now its time to dress up the outfit. Depending on how simple your attire is you can add more than one statement piece. I opted for this floral print clutch that my sister gifted me from a market in Thailand. Dramatic floral prints are very trendy for Spring/Summer 2017.  Chokers are also very popular and are one trend that I expect to stay around for a while. I bought this layered gold choker from Missguided a few months back.  Super chic!

STYLE TIP – “When wearing multiple statement pieces, the key tip to remember is that they should complement rather than compete with each other.”

3.) Complete the Slay with a Great pair of Heels

Let’s be honest, you CANNOT slay in flats. This Valentine’s Day break out your favourite pair of heels. I prefer a chunkier option, as comfort, for me, is Queen. I absolutely love this black pair that I bought from Primark a few months ago. The heel height and width is perfect for dancing and spending all night on my feet, if necessary, as you never know where the night will take you :). Whatever heels you choose, just make sure that they work for you. Heels should enhance not hinder your awesomeness…or your ability to walk :).

The gift of self -love is the best and most important gift you can receive this Valentine’s Day. Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed these tips. I would love to hear about your outfits so be sure to share below what you wore this Valentine’s Day.

Until next time 🙂
