Spring/Summer 2017 is all about female empowerment and I am loving it, from popular statement tees
boasting terms such as Female AF, Girl Power, Feminist and The Future is Female to this season’s hottest colour – PINK. In a time where women’s issues and challenges world wide are at the forefront, current fashion is shining the spotlight on the power of women and it is a beautiful thing. Here’s to Pink Power!
I started my blog, The Business of Chic as a source for female empowerment through style and fashion. As women we are often judged quite harshly and viewed as superficial for liking “girly” things such as shopping and clothing. However I believe if you look good, you feel good and if you feel good there is no limit to what you can accomplish. For me, style is far more than what you wear, it’s about expression of self, it’s about attitude and confidence.
Personally, I used to hate the colour pink because I have naturally always been associated with being quite “girly” and wearing pink just seemed to strengthen that stereotype. As I have grown as a woman and embraced my femininity and all that is awesome about being female, I really enjoy wearing pink now. I am ‘girly’ because I am a girl and I will wear that label as a symbol of strength and phenomenal power. I love “girly” things like shopping but I also love adventure. I am bold, I am strong, I am independent, I am clever, I am female. Don’t put me in a box and don’t underestimate me!
Here are four ways you can rock pink power this Spring/Summer like the Queen you are!
1.) From Head to Toe
Monochromatic looks are simple and super stylish. Try a pink suit
or a pink dress with matching shoes and accessories. You can also play around with different shades of pink. Be bold and have fun with it!
2.) Wear it with Red
Pink and Red together? Blasphemy! Don’t worry, yes you can wear pink and red together. The only rule in fashion these days is that there are no rules. How awesome is that! Try wearing it like I did here. While you’re at it, go ahead and try mixing navy with black and gold with silver like the fashion rebel you know you can be!
3.) Accessories/Shoes for the Win
A considerably more toned down way to wear pink is through your accessories. You can rock a pink bag like I did or you can try pink jewellery, or pink shoes.
4.) Pucker up!
When in doubt, lipstick is your bestie! My favourite pink lipsticks for the moment are ‘Flat out Fabulous’, a bright pink shade and ‘Spirit’, a muted pink shade, both by MAC Cosmetics.
