If you were born before 2000, you probably grew up hearing the phrase ‘Don’t talk to strangers on the internet‘ quite often. You were probably also warned not to share photos online or personal information. Fast forward to the present, and it is clear that those are words/actions we no longer abide by. Engaging with strangers online and sharing hundreds and thousands of photos and details of our personal lives is not just popular, it’s the norm thanks to Social Media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and You Tube. For many people, social media is a good thing. Personally, I enjoy social media and…
So…after about six months of absolutely no shopping, it seems I can’t stop shopping now! I recently travelled to neighbouring island St. Martin (French)/St. Maarten (Dutch) for the first time since returning home following the completion of my Masters programme last October. I generally prefer shopping online but I also really love shopping on the French Side as there are two awesome European fashion brands, Promod and Pimkie along with several super cute French boutiques. Spring/Summer 2017 is all about female empowerment and I am loving it, from popular statement tees boasting terms such as Female AF, Girl Power, Feminist and The Future is Female to this season’s hottest colour – PINK. In a time where women’s issues and challenges world wide are at the forefront, current fashion is shining the spotlight on the power of women and it is a beautiful thing. Here’s to Pink Power! I started my blog, The Business of Chic as a source for female empowerment through style and fashion. As women we are often judged quite harshly and viewed as superficial for…
Every year around Easter, I look forward with much excitement to two major festivals. The first being the ever popular Coachella, the one stop destination for music, fashion and art lovers held in the Colorado Desert. Although I have yet to actually attend the festival (one year I will!), I am constantly glued to Instagram during that period checking out the fearless and fun festival style. The second festival is right here in my island Anguilla. Festival Del Mar ( Festival of the Sea) is an annual seafood festival held in the fishing village of Island Harbour. Generally I like to think that fashion…
